On 3/12/19, at approximately 7:08 PM, the Laredo Police Department responded to accident with injuries call at the intersection of San Eduardo Ave and Sanchez St. While en-route to the scene, an officer was waved down by a witness who stated that the male subject involved in the accident left walking North on Santa Ursula from Sanchez St. The officer proceeded to the location and observed a male subject walking quickly on Santa Ursula. The officer drove towards the male subject and exited the marked patrol unit while giving commands to the male subject to stop. The male subject complied and the officer approached him. The officer identified the male subject as 19 year old, Jose Luis Vallejo. When the officer asked Jose if he just had been involved in a motor vehicle accident Jose stated he was and he let because he knew that the police would find him anyway.
The officer detained Jose and placed Jose in the back of the marked unit. The officer transported Jose back to the scene of the accident to conduct an investigation into the accident. Upon returning to the scene, the officer was able to confirm Jose was the driver of a green in color Dodge Dakota at the time of the accident and that the other party involved did suffer non-life threatening injuries. The injured party was treated at the scene and later transported to a local hospital in stable condition for further medical evaluation.
Jose was placed under arrest and charged with Accident Involving Injury SJF and Duty Upon Striking Fixture C/B. He was remanded to Webb County Jail in lieu of No Bond as set.
