Recently, as a result of an on-going combined narcotics investigation, Webb County Sheriff’s Office narcotics investigators and Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agents arrested Hector Daniel Leal Rodriguez, 31, a previously convicted and deported undocumented Mexican national, during a traffic stop. Leal was arrested after he was found to be in possession of approximately 55 grams of black tar heroin by the investigators at the scene.
A subsequent investigation also conducted by Webb County Sheriff’s Office investigators and DEA agents led to the discovery and seizure of an additional 1,235 grams of black tar heroin, which weight a combined total of approximately 1.3 kilos, and a fully loaded 9mm semi-automatic pistol. The combined street value of the heroin is approximately $91,000. Leal was processed and remanded to the Webb County Jail where he is held without bond pending a magistrate hearing.
The investigation continues.
“We continue to have success on these combined operations with federal agencies. It speaks volumes of the great working relationships that we have with other law enforcement agencies. It is my priority to make our community safe, and we will continue to do so,” said Sheriff Martin Cuellar.
