U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the Laredo South Station encountered a vehicle and subsequently seized four bundles of marijuana.
The incident occurred on the evening of Feb. 1, 2019, when agents attempted to stop a white Chevy Avalanche on U.S. Highway 83. The driver failed to yield to the service vehicle’s emergency equipment and drove to a residence near La Pita Mangana Road, at which time Border Patrol agents took the suspected driver into custody. Authorities searched the vehicle and located the four bundles of marijuana. The total weight of the drugs was later determined to be 129.65 Kg (285.83 lb.) with a street value of $228,000.
The arrested subject was determined to be U.S. citizen. He and the narcotics were turned over to special agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration to be processed accordingly.
