A Webb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division deputy, while patrolling Highway 83 South just north of Magana-Hein road, conducted a traffic Stop on a 2008 blue Ford Focus. As the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver took off and the deputy got back into his unit, which led to a pursuit.
The vehicle came to a stop on the frontage road near Rio Bravo, but then again started to speed off heading north. Webb County Sheriff’s Office deputies at this time deployed the stinger spikes in order to stop the vehicle.
Arrested was the driver, identified as Jose Julian Longoria, 24, as well as the passenger, Juan Guillermo Cepeda-Montes, 22.
Longoria was charged with possession of marijuana Felony 2 and evading arrest. He was sent to the Webb County jail in lieu of a combined bond of $35,000. Cepeda-Montes was charged with possession of marijuana Felony 2 and remanded to the Webb County jail on a $25,000 bond.
“I remind and encourage the public to get involved in the fight against drugs and to report any suspicious activity by calling our hotline at 956-415-2878. A reward will be given to the people that give out information that lead to the apprehension of suspects and drugs seizures. These drugs could’ve ended in our children’s path,” said Sheriff Cuellar.
