Cornyn, Cuellar to Meet with Laredo Community & Business Leaders on the Future of NAFTA

Will Seek Input from Stakeholders on Trade Policy Priorities

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) and U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar (TX-28) will join Laredo Mayor Pete Saenz, Laredo Development Foundation Executive Director Olivia Varela, Laredo Chamber of Commerce President Miguel Conchas, and the leadership of local businesses tomorrow to seek input on trade policy priorities as a part of the ongoing discussion over the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA).

According to the Laredo Development Foundation (LDF), last year, more than half of all trade between the U.S. and Mexico came through Laredo, the highest volume inland port in the United States with over $525.1 billion in imports and exports.  Both Sen. Cornyn and Rep. Cuellar have been strong proponents of a robust free trade policy.

Following a roundtable discussion, Sen. Cornyn and Rep. Cuellar will tour the Uni-Trade Forwarding warehouse and hold a joint press conference.
